Breed characteristics
The Cesky Fousek is a versatile hunting breed that excels at pointing, retrieving, tracking and searching for game. This breed is ideally suited for New Zealand conditions and an excellent choice for a wide range of hunting (deer, duck, pheasants, etc.). With a warm, wiry coat, they are well suited for cold, wet conditions. They are fairly large dogs, with the males 28-34 kg and the females about 26-32 kg. The breed most closely resembles the GWP in coat and stature.

The characteristics of Cesky Fousky are that they are eager, hard working hunters that are cooperative and easily trained. If you have been frustrated with dogs that are hard-headed, whiny or highstrung, or spend more time hunting for themselves than you, then you might consider a Fousek. At home, they have a calm friendly disposition and are great with the family and kids.

Parents
Both parents of this litter are keen, experienced hunting dogs. The sire was imported into New Zealand from Czech Republic last year. He scored Prize 1 in the Czech full utility hunting tests, taken several top places in Czech trials, has extensive hunting experience in Europe and has done very well waterfowl and upland hunting in New Zealand. For pictures and more details, see:

The mother is the first Cesky Fousek in New Zealand and is an outstanding hunting dog. She achieved a Prize 1 in the Intermediate test of the NZ Versatile Hunting Dog tests (with a score of one less than perfect) and is an outstanding upland, waterfowl and deer dog.

Prospective owners
We are looking for keen hunters who need a great versatile hunting dog as owners for these pups. We will be starting a club to cooperate to maintain the quality of the dogs and to expand the breed in New Zealand.

The purpose of the club is to cooperate to maintain the excellent quality of the fousek. Just as we benefit from the efforts of others in the past, so must we contribute to the dogs of our sons and daughters and those that follow.

The obligations under the proposed club are not onerous, and include mostly things that you will need to do to develop the dog as a hunting dog anyway. There are also restrictions on breeding and selling the dog. See proposed club and contract for more information.

Pricing
Price is $1200, which includes NZKC rego, 6 week shots and GST. Shipping is extra.

Airfreight to the South Island is about 200$ for all locations, including crate return. Our shipping crates can be used at no cost except for return shipping. However, crates are useful for many things, including housetraining, containment and car travel, so it is usually worth buying your own.
